Cranes have released a new album, Cranes, after four years of spotty co-written material and guest appearances. My first impressions are that the tracks follow the Forever album with a bit more space and ambiance. It is certainly a Cranes album through and through, but I still long for something more experimental, something less accessible and entirely new… something that turned me onto the Cranes in the first place. Rest assured that the Siblings Shaw deliver a full serving of themselves worthy of fans old and new… but imagine them cannibals, more ritualistic and self indulgent. I want more variety. I want another Adrift or Starblood… hell, I’ll even be ecstatic for another Casablanca. Or, perhaps, I haven’t listened to this release enough. Particles and Waves was like a virus afterall….
Visit the MySpace page, first two tracks are from the new album

The latest Squarepusher album ‘Just a Souvenir’ is now available as a DRM-free, ten dollar download over at Bleep ahead of the full-blown CD/LP release on 10.27. You can a heaer sample track over at Warp’s Myspace page. The sound seems to be similar to ‘Music is Rotten One Note’ in it’s physical, traditional ‘band’ sound.

One of my fave producers, AGF, has released a really interesting, free album on her site full of glitchy broken beats similar to Matthew Dear and Plateau. Grab it now by clicking the pic above and please donate if you can to show your support for independent artists that are unafraid to offer works for ‘free’

Get it here
To download the 128k mp3 you must ‘register’ but doing so also enters you into a drawing to win the new album on all formats. At this point I am willing to do what I have to to hear anything from the new album - not a bad trade off.
The song? it’s no ‘Shake a Fist‘ but it’s a good listen. Please do.

I just checked the calendar and, nope, it’s not the first of April. Halloween? Not that either…
OH! That’s right, hell just froze over. Well, it’s going to on April 25th of next year.
Litany.net - the unofficial-official Skinny Puppy website - reports that everyone favorite blood covered stilt-walker is in talks to star in an upcoming film… a musical… with Paris fucking Hilton?
‘The lead singer of the band “Skinny Puppy” - is in final talks to star in Darren Lynn Bousman’s hotly anticipated horror-musical, Repo! The Genetic Opera, which begins production September 10 in Toronto, Canada. He joins Alexa Vega, Bill Moseley, Paul Sorvino and the luscious Paris Hilton. “Repo!” focuses on a cruel entrepreneur who creates genetically perfect organs that everybody needs in 2056, and who is content to send in a repo man if the recipient can’t make payments. Lionsgate will release this unique blend of genres in theaters on April 25, 2008.’
Huh?
