My adopted home does the man right.

Need I say, yet again, how much I love New Orleans? Yes. Yes I do.

Gasp! How in the hell did I not know about Bansky visiting NoLa for the third anniversary of Katrina until just now?!

Finally I will be able to see his work firsthand, that is, unless the gray ghost gets there first…

here is a flickr pool of the same works

*sigh*

Two years ago, as I type right now, my partner, our roommate, 2 cats, two unmentionable fuck-tards and I were racing across the twin-span trying to get the fuck out of New Orleans due to Lady-K (calm down Southern Decadence lushies, i don’t mean *that* lady-k). Violent bolts of light chasing us away, water licking the tops of Lake Pontchartrain.

Two years.

Looking back, it went VERY quickly. Granted we, my family, lost nothing more than 6 months of income and a bit of dignity but many of us New Orleanians (ourselves included) continue to experience the long term effects of that unwelcomed whore from our past.

For those that may be curious, the city still needs help. Yeah, this was likely the busiest summer that New Orleans has ever known (usually the slowest time of the year) but things kind of seem to be falling back into the same old shit that was happening before and during the whole media blitz that both amplified and ignored what happens here.

My love affair with Nola continues.

I have since lost two very close friends from causes unrelated to the storm. Everything I believed has been questioned to great degree and when things seem to improve, something else comes along that ruins any progress… at least for a time. I have been both manic and depressive… and 90% of my fellow townies have experienced the same shit. Call it life, but here it’s life condensed. It’s not the normal day-to-day. Coming from the Midwest, I can attest.

Please, if your reading this… dont forget about us. if You are scarred to come here, don’t be.

We still need you, the drunkard, the whore, the potential resident, the scam artist, the tourist, the business(wo)man, the local looking to spend a dime, the bride and groom and everyone else that i forgot to expose.

New Orleans is your playground for that debauchery-elite. And we would love to have you.

To us….
