Looks like my old chatbox host is down for good so I will be cleaning up that section this weekend (anyone know whats up w/ nvncbl?)
With that being said, anyone have suggestions for a new, clean, adfree chatbox?

With nods to Amon Tobin and Prefuse 73 we have a spastic electronic/hip-hop hybrid from Mad EP. Can’t wait to get my hands on the full length.

Today I start a new theme simply called “calendar” that will be used to highlight events, births, deaths and new music releases (with mp3’s if possible) among other things.
You may recall an old theme called “Neoteric on Tiu’s Day” but it’s now dead and replaced by this here new theme.
So, today:
Event: Hawgjaw w/ Rwake, Starchild, Rebreather and Dove @ The Howlin Wolf in New Orleans. $6, doors @ 8pm
and, because its Carnival Season…
Event: Parade of Krewe Du Vieux @ 7pm in the French Quarter in NOLA. Visit nola.com here for route info and a complete list of all parades for the season.
If you have any additions, corrections or suggestions then please contact me. As far as additions are concerned I am looking for anything along the lines of New Orleans area live shows, artists birth/death dates, local art openings, release dates for both national and local acts and pretty much any important dates in music and art (obviously, I don’t give a damn about Beyonce and Co.). If you are in doubt, send it anyway and I’m sure it has it’s place… even if for no other reason then to make me laugh.
Please visit the entire calendar for an idea of what i am looking for. Big thanks in advance to anyone who can provide information!

Yeah, the song from the Mitsubish car commercial. Regardless of its use it’s still a damn good track from a decent pop-tronica project…

Remember that series of movies that was supposed to be really good but due to overinflated ideas, too much money and second guessing it ended up sucking ass? No, no not the Star Wars ordeal, I mean The Matrix. The second and third blew so damn bad and twice I was duped into paying $8.50 to see 2+ hours of crap.
But at least Animatrix was thrown into the mix to calm me. Such good work that was.
Anyhow, this is an unusually good Death in Vegas song that was on the soundtrack to Animatrix that also happened to come packaged with the DVD.

Snooty Side Note: Movie studios should do this for all movies that flop. A bit of a oops-sorry-for-that-mistake-there kind of thing, don’t you think? LOL. Ok, maybe all movies. I really dont want lame commentary or still-shots, damn it. Ahh, hell, nevermind… just another seed of a good idea that both the MPAA and RIAA would throw aside in favor of sueing more of those nutty, crazy music and movie fans.
Fuck you you fucking assholes.
Oh yeah, while I’m at it, same to you FCC… but twice as hard and with no lube.
(yes, perhaps I DO have a bit on my mind and perhaps I AM a bit bitter about what I have been reading lately…)

Slutty, electro-disco covers of punk and hardcore tracks? A whole album of them? Why yes, Drew Daniel gambles on with his “The Soft Pink Truth” project and delivers an entire disc of just that and is titled ” Do You Want New Wave Or Do You Want The Soft Pink Truth?” (nice lil’ Minutemen reference there, Drew Boy).
I must say, it is some of the most entertaining shit making the rounds this year (so far)

Some very intense work here by an Australian fellow under the name “Dsico that No-Talent Hack“, a V/VM contributor and all around aural guerilla. His site is pretty sweet and has many other songs for download that includes various remixes, mashups and humerous covers - but unfortunatly most have been removed due to the need to “move on” and damn there was some good stuff there… My fave of the still-live links:
(note - you may have to visit the “site” next to the track name in able to obtain the files)
justin timberlake - “like i love you (dsico remix)” mp3 [site] - completely reworked track given a drum and bass treatment that perfectly dirties up the overproduced sound of the original.
dsico - “smells like electro” mp3 [site] - yup, an electro cover of the Nirvana classic. Do I smell a touch of Fischerspooner’s “Emerge” in there? hehe. I never realized it until hearing this that the “Smells Like…” and “Emerge” bassline is EXACTLY the same.
dsico - “relaxxx” mp3 [site] - a “reinterpretation” of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “Relax” (no longer available)
Music and ideas this exciting are hard to come by in the often-uninspired sphere of “electronica”. One to watch.

Ok, I have been having WAAAAY too much trouble with my new code/look so for the time being I am simply going to say “fuck it” and carry on…
Much more music to follow

For starters, you can see the chatter box is a bit jacked up (it seems the provider forgot to renew the domain. oops)
Yes, I have been the rather silent this week but I have been working on yet another new design for the page. The design should be complete by Friday at the latest and will look much better then the current state. This design you see now has just been getting on my nerves.
Hopefully, this new design in the works will be my last for awhile…
The music will return shortly, I promise.
